Yellow jackets

"Yellowjacket" is the common term used for predatory social wasps in North America. The yellow jacket has a long slender body with black-and-white markings on its head that look like eyespots above two red ocelli spots resembling large round pupils.

Wasps

Wasps are insects in the order Hymenoptera. They have a slender, smooth body and legs with fewer hairs as compared to their counterparts which make them easily distinguishable from ants or bees of Apocrita.

Paper Wasps

Paper wasps are a type of vespid wasp that gathers fibers from plant stems and dead wood that they mix with saliva to create nests. They're sometimes also called umbrella wasps due to the distinctive design in their nest.

Bald-faced Hornets

The bald-faced hornet is a unique kind of wasp that has many different names, but they are all given to distinguish the appearance. They have an olive-green body with black stripes on it which make them look intimidating. These insects don't usually fly too far away from their nest unless something really spooks them.

European Hornets

They are the largest eusocial wasp native to Europe, and one of two true hornets in North America. It has been introduced by Europeans settlers over a hundred years ago. They're known for their painful sting which can cause allergic reactions.
